The Grand River Watershed

The area surrounding the Grand provides it with a fresh supply of water. In order to do so the environment must remain healthy and act as a natural filter for the water flowing into the Grand. The surrounding areas must maintain natural vegetation so that water does not evaporate too quickly, reducing the supply to the ground and river eco-systems.

Luther Marsh

The Luther Marsh Conservation Area contains a vast system of wetlands and a three kilometer shallow lake, all of which collect water that feeds the Grand River via a control dam. As a result of the work of the GRCA this area has become a major location for migrating birds.
