Welcome to the Grand Journey
Welcome to the Grand River Journey - a journey that follows the river from its source near Dundalk in the north to its destination at Lake Erie. The Grand was proclaimed a Canadian Heritage River because of its importance as a source of water to the great lakes. The river is constantly monitored by the Grand River Conservation Authority ( view the GRCA Web site by following the link About the Grand River above).
This section of the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery's project "River: Grand!" was developed to provide an overview of the river community, from its cultural influence to its opportunities for outdoor recreation, its history and its industry.
If you are planning to visit the Grand River communities you may find Bed & Breakfasts, Inns and Hotels under the links in Accommodations shown above the information window. Many of the towns and cities provide additional information on accommodations and local maps through their municipal Web sites which are listed in the drop-down menus under the green community names.
These menus, to the left of the river, provide links to regional Web sites that will open up in a new browser window. The links to the right of the river, in blue, will present an overview and photographs of the area in the information window.
